Job Overview:

We are seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) to join our team in Queens and Bronx residences. The successful candidate will provide diagnostic evaluation, testing, and treatment services as a member of departmental or inter-departmental interdisciplinary teams. They will also complete behavior support plans for individuals receiving support from AHRC New York City.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $52-$74k per year, depending on education level and experience. This position comes with a comprehensive benefit package, including low-cost quality medical insurance, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all duties necessary to ensure compliance with relevant regulations governing service provision.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations, annual psychological status assessments, and periodic diagnostic testing.
  • Assist in the completion of behavior support plans and implement monitoring initiatives.
  • Engage individuals in individual and/or group treatment as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention and instruct staff in appropriate techniques for handling behavior management problems.
  • Interpret psychological behavioral problems and test findings to direct care staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely service records for individuals supported.

To succeed in this role, you must have a Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology, or an MA degree in Behavior Analysis and Board Certification in ABA, or a NY State License in Mental Health Counseling. At least 2 years of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities is required, including creating, implementing, and monitoring behavioral support plans.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology, or an MA degree in Behavior Analysis and Board Certification in ABA, or a NY State License in Mental Health Counseling.
  • At least 2 years of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in overseeing administrative tasks related to regulatory mandates and program service operations.
