Position Overview

The Food and Beverage Server is accountable for the efficient and professional service of food and beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, in accordance with the standards and procedures outlined in the Harwood Hospitality Group training manual.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support fellow servers in monitoring and coordinating daily operations of the assigned section during each shift, ensuring adherence to all FOH SOPs (including HACCP).
  • Interact effectively with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility, proactivity, resourcefulness, and professionalism.
  • Prepare and serve drinks following proper mix ratios and deliver them to guests in a courteous manner.
  • Ensure impeccable service is provided to all guests, fulfilling their needs and expectations to the highest standards.
  • Maintain the unit in excellent condition, ensuring all equipment, materials, and utensils are functional and well-maintained.
  • Warmly greet guests and provide a pleasant and comfortable dining experience.
  • Stay informed about bar inventory and mixed drink recipes.
  • Possess a solid understanding of food, wine, cocktails, and beers.
  • Communicate effectively with the restaurant manager, servers, and host/hostess to enhance the guest experience.
  • Engage guests with a friendly greeting and take drink orders in line with HHG bar service standards.
  • Mix ingredients for cocktails and other beverages accurately.
  • Inspect food before serving to ensure correct appearance, temperature, and portion sizes.
  • Adhere to HHG food and beverage standards and procedures as per the training manual.
  • Complete requisitions, par, and supply lists as required.
  • Comply fully with state liquor laws.
  • Perform all duties safely and monitor the actions of others.
  • Maintain a pleasant, hospitable demeanor and remain attentive to guests at all times.
  • Be knowledgeable about HHG information to assist guests effectively.
  • Report any guest complaints or comments to the Manager.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the bar area before, during, and after shifts.
  • Accurately reconcile documentation as required.
  • Ensure that all coolers and side stations are cleaned and stocked daily.
  • Accurately enter orders into the computer system and collect payments, minimizing waste and maintaining cost controls.
  • Ensure that recipe cards, production schedules, and plating guides are current and displayed.
  • Reconcile money and checks from servers and guests.
  • Maintain profitable bar costs through accurate product measurement.
  • Follow proper cash-out procedures for servers.
  • Process orders through a computer terminal.
  • Conduct physical inventory of specified food items daily.
  • Ensure menu items are prepared according to recipes.
  • Verify that all food and drinks are rung up correctly.
  • Follow proper procedures for ringing guest checks and cash collection.
  • Adhere to cash handling responsibilities as dictated by HHG policy.
  • Be fully responsible and accountable for an issued bank.
  • Collect payments for food and beverages served.
Physical Requirements

  • Able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Sanitation and Equipment
  • Ensure compliance with state sanitation and health regulations as well as HHG requirements.
  • Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by health department and restaurant standards.
  • Instruct staff on the correct usage and care of all kitchen machinery, emphasizing safety.
Meetings & Communication
  • Be available for mandatory restaurant meetings or training sessions.
  • Report any major product defects or guest issues immediately and take necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensure smooth communication with all direct reports and other restaurant managers/supervisors.
  • Stay updated on trends in the restaurant industry.
Professional Conduct
  • Maintain a neat appearance and grooming, consistently behaving and communicating according to HHG standards of excellence.
  • Treat all associates with respect and consideration, regardless of their position or tasks.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required.
  • Experience in high-volume, luxury, or steakhouse environments is essential.
  • TABC and Food Handlers certification is required.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods is necessary.
