Position Overview:
The Environmental Services Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment within specialized healthcare settings, including surgical and peri-operative areas. This position is essential for ensuring cleanliness and infection prevention, contributing significantly to the overall patient experience.

Work Schedule:
Tuesday - Friday (Start time between 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM for a 4-hour shift)

Compensation:
$15.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute cleaning and disinfection protocols in specialized units and equipment, including but not limited to Surgical Services and Recovery areas.
2. Uphold safety and infection control standards, demonstrating a thorough understanding of healthcare cleaning principles and safe chemical usage.
3. Maintain accurate logs and checklists to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning requirements for sensitive environments, adhering to guidelines set by relevant health organizations.
5. Manage supplies and equipment, ensuring the environmental services cart is well-stocked and organized.
6. Dispose of waste appropriately, recognizing different waste streams such as regulated medical and hazardous waste.
7. Follow strict infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
8. Maintain patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Additional Duties:
1. Exhibit personal accountability and initiative in problem-solving.
2. Assist in the onboarding process for new Environmental Services Technicians as needed.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in healthcare environmental services.

Skills:
- Ability to distinguish between levels of disinfection and perform necessary cleaning tasks.
- Proficient in reading and writing English at a 6th-9th grade level preferred.
- Strong communication skills, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Health Requirements:
- PPD (TB test) and blood tests for specific antibodies are required upon hiring.
- COVID vaccination and flu shot are mandatory.
