Job Overview
The Controller department is in search of a detail-oriented and proactive professional to undertake a comprehensive range of sophisticated accounting functions aimed at ensuring precise and timely general accounting records. This department is responsible for adhering to GAAP and Statutory financial reporting standards, which encompass financial statements, disclosures, analyses, and various regulatory submissions.

Role Responsibilities
As a Principal Accountant, your role will involve executing intricate accounting tasks for financial, regulatory, and management reporting, as well as preparing account analyses and reconciliations. Beyond routine duties, you will play a key role in supporting automation initiatives and mentoring other accounting staff in their deliverables.

Work Environment
This position operates in a hybrid model, requiring on-site presence three days a week.

Key Duties:

  • Prepare journal entries in the accounting system, ensuring appropriate documentation and calculations are obtained.
  • Conduct account reconciliations and perform thorough balance sheet account reviews to facilitate process enhancement and standardization.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement, automation, and internal control projects aligned with corporate strategies, including driving the automation of specific accounting tasks.
  • Guide and train fellow accounting team members.
  • Support special projects, initiatives, and ad-hoc requests as needed.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in public accounting or a relevant corporate accounting setting.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in managing multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to learn and apply technical accounting and procedural information.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Willingness to work overtime during peak periods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, VBA).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possession of a CPA license.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining effective internal control structures.
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams for organizational and continuous improvement projects.
  • Prior experience in insurance accounting.
  • Familiarity with Workday Financials general ledger application.
  • Experience with Cadency and PowerBI.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and automation projects.
