We are seeking a skilled Transmission Planning Engineer to support ongoing transmission studies for generation interconnections, load flow, and grid stability.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead regional planning efforts and provide guidance to developers on navigating the transmission network to identify system capacity and optimal locations for interconnection projects.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned work activities, leveraging excellent data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Evaluate utility impact studies, challenging study methodology where necessary, and assist project developers in evaluating potential project sites to determine feasibility and potential network upgrades and costs.
- Collaborate with a fast-paced team to lead strategic initiatives and execute on short- and longer-term goals, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of T&D protective relay schemes.
- Minimum 5+ years of power engineering experience, with a focus on transmission planning.
- In-depth knowledge of CERC processes, including generation interconnects.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a relevant field; a master's degree is preferred.
- Strong understanding of transmission system impacts associated with the interconnection of distributed energy resources (DER) and knowledge of engineering solutions to mitigate those issues.
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Experience with power systems modeling software, such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, SKM/ETAP, and Aspen.
- Transient stability assessment expertise.
- EMT studies and specialty studies knowledge.
- Proficiency in PSLF software.
- 10-15 years of dedicated experience in transmission planning.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, with a preference for electrical engineering.
- A registered Professional Engineering (PE) license is desired.
