**Job Title:** Port Operations Manager
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Port Operations Manager to join our team at Gateway New London Terminal. About Us:
Gateway New London Terminal is a terminal operator managing the State Pier in New London, focusing on the offshore wind industry. As a key player in this sector, we provide services including assembling, storing, and transporting giant turbines.
Estimated Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
Job Description:
The Port Operations Manager will be responsible for providing guidance and direction to supervisors and lead associates. They will assist in planning daily work schedules and direct associates to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely delivery, proper inventory control, and prompt and effective response to customer requests.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain a firm hand on all aspects of operations and maintain an effective balance of communication between management, supervision, and all production and support personnel.
- Identify training requirements and ensure that all personnel possess technical job proficiency and an understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and performance goals.
- Schedule and shift personnel to ensure efficient work teams.
- Ensure proper documentation and records in associate performance, safety, etc.
- Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and security procedures.
- Initiate work orders and reports to maintenance equipment and facility needs.
- Coordinate with Port Captain and Cargo Officer on stowage, loading, and discharging operations.
- Continuously visually inspect loading and unloading gear and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and governmental regulations.
- Assume various additional projects or tasks as necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience handling and supervising associates on multiple types of cargo, especially breakbulk.
- Understand specialized rigging and cargo handling gear.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent safety record.
- Able to train new employees.
- Able to motivate and build morale within the group.
- Ability to supervise, train, and hold associates accountable for performance and results.
- Warehouse and stevedoring experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a 3-year driving history that is acceptable to our auto insurance carrier.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, and write, talk, type, and hear. The associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend, or kneel and lift and, or move up to 35 lbs.
