Pharmacy Technician Navigator Job Description

Cencora is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician Navigator to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician Navigator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our outpatient clinics and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist pharmacists in accurately dispensing specialty medications, including measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions with precision.
  • Review and enter prescription orders into the pharmacy system accurately and efficiently, verifying patient information and insurance coverage, and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
  • Coordinate, track, manage, and facilitate prescription delivery, adhering to packing and tracking processes.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of medications, ensuring adequate stock is available for patient needs, and collaborating with the pharmacy team to place orders and track shipments.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals, answering inquiries, addressing pharmacy-related concerns, and triaging to pharmacists as appropriate.
  • Manage multiple patients with diverse needs autonomously, conducting initial and follow-up calls to assess medication adherence, documenting appropriately, and deferring to pharmacists as agreed upon.
  • Review patient insurance for affordability and assess availability of financial assistance options, supporting patients through the application process.
  • Display professionalism in all interactions, communicating effectively in-person, via telephone, and in other electronic communication, and documenting pertinent patient information professionally and succinctly in patient charts, as agreed upon by pharmacists.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, pharmacy, and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in practice areas, participating in training programs and continuing education opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
  • Requires 1+ year(s) directly related and progressively responsible pharmacy experience; bachelor's degree program preferred.
  • Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification or comparable state certification is preferred.
