Position Summary

The Finance Operations Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Controller by overseeing the organization's financial activities. This position entails managing the accounting team, ensuring precise and timely financial reporting, upholding internal controls, and contributing to the mission through effective financial stewardship. The Finance Operations Manager collaborates with various departments to provide financial insights that inform decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Oversight
    Manage daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy in all transactions and reporting.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    Prepare and review financial reports for board and management, ensuring completeness for Controller approval.
  • General Ledger Management
    Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial activities are accurately recorded.
  • Closing Processes
    Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Assist in developing the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget adherence and report on discrepancies.
  • Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives.

Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement internal control policies.
  • Lead the preparation for external audits.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor the accounting staff, offering guidance and support.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training opportunities.
  • Promote a collaborative and positive workplace culture.

Grant and Fund Management

  • Oversee grants and donor funds, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with grant applications and compliance reporting.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights.
  • Support fundraising initiatives with relevant financial data.
  • Engage in organizational meetings and contribute to strategic planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in non-profit accounting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
