Role Overview:

The Neuroscience Critical Care Team at BAS Healthcare is dedicated to establishing a pioneering patient-centered care model that consistently enhances quality and the overall patient experience.

As a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APRN) will be responsible for planning and delivering care to patients with complex neuroscience conditions, particularly those suffering from neurological and neurosurgical diseases and associated disorders.

The patient demographic includes individuals with intricate strokes, skull base surgeries, status epilepticus, tumor resections, spinal cord injuries, deep brain stimulation, and other complex ailments.

The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APRN) will rotate through the intensive care unit and stepdown units, collaborating closely with attending intensivists, fellows, residents, and the primary admitting team along with various consultants.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a diverse patient caseload with various medical conditions
  • Conduct thorough physical assessments
  • Interpret diagnostic results effectively
  • Oversee hemodynamic and ventilator management
  • Document daily progress notes
  • Engage in patient and family education and meetings

An extensive training program featuring a 6-month immersion orientation will be provided. Supervision will be available for the APP in performing skills such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and transcranial dopplers.


Shift Details:
40 hours - Day/Night Rotator and Permanent Night schedules available, with weekend and holiday rotations required. (Differentials offered.)

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Master’s program preferred
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner (APRN)
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) through AACN or ANCC
  • AGACNP Board Certification as an acute care nurse practitioner and/or critical care AP experience
  • Neurology experience is preferred
