Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Optometry Department Lead Professional to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Clackamas, Oregon. This role requires a minimum of two years of experience in an optometric or ophthalmic practice, with a strong focus on leadership and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and support assistance to doctors of optometry, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Lead a team of optometric support staff, guiding them to maintain a smoothly running work environment and adhere to department policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the monitoring of work processes and workflow, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct regular staff huddles and meet with department directors and supervisors to discuss department operations.
  • Ensure employees maintain accurate records and reports, and adhere to Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including optical dispensing, membership services, and family practice, to coordinate patient care.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate within 18 months of hire from The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
  • Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) within 2 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence with ophthalmic instruments, including auto-refractors, non-contact tonometers, and visual field testing equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years of previous experience in optometric or ophthalmic practice.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic science and optics, familiarity with optometric and/or ophthalmic procedures related to preliminary testing.
  • Basic knowledge of instillation of optometric diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceuticals as applied to the practice of optometry.
Estimated Salary:

$65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.

Work Environment:

This role is based in Clackamas, Oregon, with travel to various Kaiser Permanente locations in the region.
