Job Title: Medical Assistant - Women's Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at MACT Health Board, Inc. in Sonora, California. As a Medical Assistant - Women's Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting our Medical Department's professional staff and providing exceptional care to our patients.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant - Women's Health Specialist will be responsible for assisting with patient exams, procedures, and administrative tasks. This includes conducting visit preparation activities, participating in team huddles, and ensuring all related reports and information are attached to patients' medical records. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct visit preparation activities, including preparing patient charts and ensuring all necessary reports and information are attached.
  • Participate in morning and afternoon team huddles to discuss patient care and administrative tasks.
  • Ensure all related reports and information are attached to patients' medical records and complete intake in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, and document all information in patient charts.
  • Assist providers with patient exams and procedures, including phlebotomy testing and lab procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care and administrative tasks.
  • Perform various lab tests, screening, and phlebotomy testing procedures consistent with training and clinic policies.
  • Assist with maintenance and inventory of medical equipment and supplies, and restock exam rooms as needed.
  • Clean exam rooms and lab areas between patient visits and after hours according to protocol.
  • Monitor provider inboxes and assist with medication refills and tasks.
  • Perform prior authorizations for needed medications, referrals, and diagnostic testing as needed.
  • Facilitate and log labs, X-rays, consults, referrals, and other reports as needed.
  • Maintain tracking and log records per protocol: Immunizations, emergency kits, and injectables.
  • Maintain infection control standards, including autoclaving instruments and logging of autoclave testing.
  • Maintain communication and work closely with front office staff.
  • Assist with training of newly employed staff as directed.
  • Comply with all MACT Health Board, Inc. policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current Medical Assistant licensure.
  • Experience in the medical field preferred.
  • OB/GYN Women's Health back office procedures work preferred.
  • Medical Scribe work experience desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of universal precautions.
  • Knowledge of various working policies and procedures of the Medical Health Board, Inc.
  • Skill in taking and recording patient's vitals, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and urinalysis, etc.
  • Knowledge of various clerical tasks required, e.g., assisting patients in completing forms.
  • Knowledge of various tools and equipment used by the physicians and the Nurse Practitioners.
  • Knowledge of cleaning solutions and sterile processes.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality rules regarding medical information as well as the Privacy Act. HIPPA educated.
