Position Overview

The Event Services Manager plays a crucial role in achieving designated catering and banquet objectives that align with the overall success of the hotel. This individual will be tasked with effectively pursuing and securing new business opportunities, as well as providing exceptional service to clients and groups as needed. Collaborating closely with the Director of Sales or Director of Catering, the Event Services Manager will work towards fulfilling the hotel's revenue and market share targets across one or more properties. The focus of catering sales may differ based on the specific property assigned (e.g., Social, Corporate, Business, SMERF). Management-level personnel are expected to dedicate the necessary time each workday to fulfill their responsibilities.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; prior experience in Catering Sales is preferred.
  • Creativity and a solid understanding of food and beverage are desirable.
  • A valid driver's license for the applicable state is necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for negotiating, persuading, selling, and influencing other management staff, hotel guests, and/or corporate clients.
  • Experience in professional selling techniques is preferred: opening, probing, supporting, and closing.
  • Proficiency in general computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products, is required.
  • The ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks simultaneously is essential; strong organizational and presentation skills are a must.
Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve assigned sales and revenue targets, along with solicitation call objectives.
  • Proactively engage in solicitation calls, conduct sales tours, and entertain clients relevant to Social, Corporate, Business, or SMERF segments, as applicable.
  • Enhance existing relationships with assigned accounts related to Leisure, SMERF, Business Travel (BT), and/or Groups, as applicable.
  • Analyze and monitor trends within your market segment.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Comply with Avion Hospitality's established regulations, company standards, catering/meeting standards, and related catering sales metrics.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the hotel's operations and policies, as well as those of relevant departments.
  • Ensure timely generation and accuracy of the Daily Event List, Banquet Event Order/Guarantee Sheet, and Ten Day Event Schedule.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the local community and industry organizations as applicable.
  • Assist in the implementation and/or participation in special promotions related to direct sales segments, such as sales blitzes.
  • Attend required daily, weekly, and monthly meetings and any other functions as mandated by management.
  • Perform any additional duties as requested by the General Manager or Director of Sales.
