The City of Fort Pierre is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our Parks Maintenance team as a Parks Maintenance Specialist.

About the Role

This hands-on position involves a variety of tasks to ensure that our parks are clean, safe, and enjoyable for all residents and visitors. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing park facilities, such as playground equipment, picnic shelters, and restrooms.

  • Maintaining and repairing park facilities, including playground equipment, picnic shelters, and restrooms.
  • Mowing and landscaping park grounds.
  • Planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, and flowers.
  • Performing routine maintenance on park amenities, such as benches, tables, and fences.
  • Responding to maintenance requests and addressing any issues in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with special events and projects in the parks department.

We offer a competitive salary of $40,000 - $50,000 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a related field.
  • The ability to operate landscaping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
  • Knowledge of horticulture and plant care, with preference for applicator licensing.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift objects up to 75lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A valid SD Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 180 days.
