McAllister Towing ha brindado un servicio de remolque superior en el puerto de Nueva York desde 1864, cuando el Capitán James McAllister, bisabuelo del actual presidente Brian Buckley McAllister, compró su primer barco de carga para transportar mercancías de Manhattan a Brooklyn.
Hoy en día, los remolcadores de McAllister ofrecen una amplia variedad de servicios en los concurridos puertos de Nueva York y Nueva Jersey, atendiendo al mercado de consumo más concentrado y adinerado del mundo y manejando una parte significativa de las 16 millones de toneladas de carga que pasan por el puerto cada año.
Además de los servicios de atraque de barcos y trabajos generales de asistencia en el puerto, los remolcadores con base en Nueva York son empleados regularmente en remolques en alta mar a lo largo de toda la costa este.

Ingeniero de Mantenimiento Marítimo
Reporta a:
El Ingeniero de Mantenimiento Marítimo es directamente responsable y rendirá cuentas al Ingeniero de Puerto Senior.
Supervisa:
Ingenieros de embarcaciones y personal diverso en tierra.
Descripción de Funciones:
El Ingeniero de Mantenimiento Marítimo es un ingeniero calificado que es responsable de estimar, planificar y realizar el mantenimiento, reparaciones y modificaciones a corto y largo plazo en las embarcaciones para una región específica.
Asiste en el desarrollo y cumplimiento del presupuesto de mantenimiento y reparación.
Supervisa el mantenimiento, reparación, modificaciones y proyectos de renovación de la flota existente de manera oportuna y rentable.
Desarrolla especificaciones de varada, paquetes de licitación de proveedores y evaluación de paquetes de licitación de astilleros.
Monitorea al contratista y/o astillero durante los proyectos de mantenimiento y reparación.
Realiza encuestas in situ de embarcaciones y equipos para determinar las necesidades de mantenimiento y reparación.
Hace recomendaciones de reparación.
Se comunica regularmente y supervisa a los ingenieros de embarcaciones sobre los cronogramas de mantenimiento y reparación en curso.
Mantiene la documentación de historial de maquinaria.
Este puesto puede implicar viajes.
Otras funciones que se le asignen.
Requisitos Mínimos:
Dos años como ingeniero en embarcaciones y experiencia mecánica trabajando con motores Detroit Diesel 71 Series, EMD, Fairbanks Morse y Caterpillar.
Se requiere un diploma de secundaria o equivalente.
Se prefiere un título de licenciatura en ingeniería o un campo relacionado. Se prefiere graduado de Academia Marítima.
Credencial de Marinero Mercante de la USCG y Tarjeta de Identificación del Trabajador de Transporte.
Se prefiere licencia de la USCG.
Fuertes habilidades analíticas, de comunicación y resolución de problemas.
Requisitos Físicos:
La naturaleza impredecible, cambiante e inherentemente peligrosa de las operaciones de embarcaciones requiere que el Ingeniero de Mantenimiento Marítimo esté físicamente calificado para garantizar su propia seguridad, así como la del barco y la tripulación.
Requisitos físicos específicos incluyen:
Visión adecuada (es decir, ausencia de daltonismo o impedimentos que no puedan corregirse con lentes recetados).
Audición adecuada.
Capaz de caminar y estar de pie en superficies mojadas durante períodos prolongados.
Capaz de manejar líneas pesadas y operar maquinaria pesada.
Capacidad para escalar una escalera de 12 pies sin asistencia.
Capacidad para levantarse y sobrepasar una barrera de 12 pulgadas de ancho y 6 pies de altura.
Suficiente fuerza para:
Levantar 100 lbs. desde la cubierta hasta la altura de la cintura;
Levantar 50 lbs. desde la cubierta hasta la altura del hombro;
Levantar 35 lbs. desde la cubierta hasta por encima de la cabeza; y
Tirar (arrastrar) 120 lbs. al menos 20 pies.
