Position Summary
i.g. Burton is in search of a proactive and enthusiastic individual to enhance our facilities team. In this position, you will handle routine maintenance tasks, execute minor repairs on building fixtures, replace light bulbs, maintain cleanliness in shared spaces and floors, and perform various other duties such as patching and painting. The Facilities Worker will also oversee grounds maintenance responsibilities, including trimming, mowing, debris collection, and mulching.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute a variety of maintenance tasks for facilities, including light bulb replacement, vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping. Maintain cleanliness in common areas, floors, and restrooms.
- Conduct minor repairs on building fixtures and equipment.
- Assemble, repair, maintain, and relocate furniture, including desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, shelves, and related fittings.
- Prepare and set up for special events and requirements.
- Perform maintenance work such as painting and patching.
- Safely operate equipment such as forklifts or scissor lifts.
- Inspect facilities and grounds for safety and security; identify and report hazardous conditions and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Adhere to safe working practices and utilize related equipment appropriately.
- Perform custodial tasks and assist with pest control measures.
- Carry out grounds maintenance, including trimming, mowing, debris collection, and mulching. Clear and sweep sidewalks and parking areas.
- Manage weed removal and apply treatments as necessary.
- Implement snow removal procedures during inclement weather.
- Assist fellow facility employees in completing repairs and tasks.
- Fulfill any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Two years of relevant experience
- Ability to work on ladders and at heights
- Experience in indoor and outdoor environments under various weather conditions
- Capability to bend, kneel, stand, walk, and crouch for extended periods
- Valid state Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of safe handling and proper use of materials and equipment used in custodial work
