About the Role

URBN is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Science organization, responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining Machine Learning systems to support our brands. Our team's expertise spans project management, machine learning, software engineering, data engineering, and analytics.

Key Responsibilities
  • ML Modeling: Develop and deploy machine learning models in recommender systems and search engines, focusing on business impact and time-to-production.
  • Analysis: Support opportunities to add value to the business through statistical and ML techniques, quantifying the impact and communicating the outcome to peers and leaders.
Requirements
  • Desired Skills and Experience:
    • Job experience training and developing recommender systems (e.g., collaborative filtering, neural networks)
    • Experience in training or using embeddings and/or vector search is preferred
    • Expertise in fundamental Machine Learning concepts, including: train/dev/test sets, overfitting, scoring metrics, etc.
    • Strong Python experience
    • ML tools (e.g. scikit learn, Jupyter Notebooks, TensorFlow, pyTorch, etc.)
    • Proficient in querying databases using SQL
    • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with Cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
    • Experience with Cloud infrastructure (Virtual Machines, Cloud Storage, IAM, etc.)
    • Experience performing evaluations of deployed, customer-facing applications and ML models
    • Data or ML orchestration frameworks (KubeFlow, MLflow, Airflow, etc.)
  • Education:
    • A MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics or related field with relevant job experience.
