Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Neurology

Job Summary:

Geisinger's Neuroscience Institute is seeking a neurology physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join the team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.

Job Duties:
  • Perform initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
  • Keep track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discuss with physician, and return call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
  • Assist with arranging appropriate follow-up for patients.
  • Answer and return phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family.
  • Discuss plan with physician and relay information to family and patient.
  • Obtain or assist in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a ARC-approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants and eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine.
  • Certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Certified to work with all patient population age groups.
