Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at the California Department of Education. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting students with medical and behavioral needs in our special day class program.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to make a real difference in the lives of our students. As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will work closely with our teaching staff to provide individualized support and care to students who require additional assistance. Your expertise will help ensure that our students receive the best possible education and support to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to students with medical and behavioral needs in our special day class program.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop and implement individualized plans for students.
  • Assist students with daily living tasks, such as hygiene and medication management.
  • Support students with behavioral challenges through positive reinforcement techniques and crisis intervention strategies.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A valid California driver's license.
  • Proof of automobile insurance.
  • Department of Justice and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • A copy of your High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid Certificate as a Psychiatric Technician.

What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
