Job Summary:

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to patients with respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Treatment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients with respiratory conditions, including pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiographs, and hemodynamic values. Develop and implement treatment plans to address patient needs and improve respiratory function.
  • Ventilator Management: Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, ensuring proper functioning and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications and therapies as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate dosing and timing.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of respiratory equipment, identifying the need for service and/or repair.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on respiratory care, disease management, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care, communicating effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest respiratory care practices and technologies, participating in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Licensure and Certification: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which you practice, and active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with a minimum of an associate degree.
  • Skills and Abilities: Effective organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records.
