POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Revenue Assurance Specialist plays a crucial role in conducting daily assessments to ensure the precise and prompt documentation of all departmental charges. This includes reviewing patient census, schedules, and discharges, as well as tracking and reporting any discrepancies found during audits. The specialist will also serve as a backup for the chargemaster maintenance role and is responsible for keeping all departments informed about updates in CPT and HCPCS coding.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Coding certification is preferred.
  • Experience in hospital billing is essential.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities are crucial.
  • Customer service experience is mandatory.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct timely reviews of departmental charges.
  • Perform daily evaluations of emergency department charges, procedures, injections, infusions, and other administration charges.
  • Collect and report audit findings systematically.
  • Investigate and resolve any billing and coding discrepancies.
  • Provide educational support to clinical service lines regarding coding and billing practices.
  • Suggest enhancements to the chargemaster based on audit results to improve revenue.
  • Assist in reviewing changes in pricing, CPT codes, HCPCS codes, and revenue codes to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant billing guidelines.
