Maintain a well-organized and efficient parts inventory, ensuring minimal obsolescence and adherence to established practices and policies. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Meet or exceed performance metrics for inventory management, including inventory days supply, service level, and true turn.
- Organize and maintain the parts department in an efficient layout, ensuring easy access to all parts and related documentation.
- Establish and maintain a system for ageing special order bins, minimizing obsolescence and ensuring timely returns.
- Develop and implement measures to deter department theft, ensuring the security of all parts and related assets.
- Conduct annual physical inventory and maintain a perpetual inventory bin-maintenance system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Employ systems to minimize obsolescence, including monitoring and tracking obsolescence accruals and utilizing all available return accruals at time of return.
- Develop and implement an emergency order placement system, ensuring timely and effective communication with all involved parties.
- Ensure that emergency orders are used primarily to affect service-level goals, minimizing unnecessary orders and optimizing inventory levels.
- Establish and maintain a special-order system, ensuring proper information flow regarding special orders to all involved parties.
- Ensure proper information flow to accounting on non-system orders, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Develop and implement systems for receiving, shipping, logging, tracking, and controlling all parts and related documentation daily.
- Maintain missing document ledgers and provide to accounting at month-end, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Sources/verifies service and body shop work-in-process reports at month-end, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve any inventory discrepancies by month-end, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to company standards and expectations.
- Attend department meetings as requested, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with all team members.
- High School diploma or general education diploma (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, as well as speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, as well as calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
