EEG Technician

Sutter Health is seeking a skilled EEG Technician to join our team in Oakland, California.
Job Summary:The EEG Technician will perform basic and complex EEG recordings, including cortical, peripheral nerve, auditory nerve, and visual pathway neurophysiologic information, in accordance with physician or licensed independent practitioner orders and under minimum supervision.
Responsibilities:- Obtain standard and special procedure EEG recordings
- Monitor additional physiologic phenomena using appropriate techniques and instrumentation
- Adapt recordings based on patient's relevant medical history and observations during recording
- Provide orientation and training to new staff members
- Participate in obtaining data for clinical research studies
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- HS Diploma or Associate's degree
- Certificate in EEG or equivalent education/experience
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- Minimum six (6) months experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on adults
- Minimum one (1) year experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on neonates
- Knowledge of human anatomy with emphasis on neuroanatomy, physiology, physics, and medical electronics
- Ability to distinguish abnormalities on recordings
- Strong understanding of recording sites and recording montages to help localize various abnormalities
- Understanding of basic related pharmacology, especially anti-epileptic and anesthetic medications
- In-depth understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to operate digital electroencephalographic and evoked potential equipment
- Knowledge of analog and digital equipment in the neurodiagnostic laboratory

Pay Range is $37.07 to $43.09 / hour
This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
