Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented School Crossing Guard to join our team at the Lower Merion School District. As a School Crossing Guard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and efficient pedestrian crossings for students during peak hours
  • Observe traffic patterns and lead students across roadways and intersections
  • Provide information and assistance to the public
  • Report any crime or suspicious activity observed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to instruct students in the safe crossing of intersections
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass and maintain background checks
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to drive for a minimum of 1 hour, sit for a minimum of 1 hour, and walk up to a maximum of 4.5 hours per workday
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift 20% of the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds for utilizing assigned equipment
  • Ability to use both hands for firm grasping, repetitive actions, and fine manipulation
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to perform job functions in all types of weather and temperatures. The School Crossing Guard will work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Benefits

This position is not eligible for Township-paid fringe benefits.
