Personal Support Specialist for Family Engagement

About the Role:
We are seeking part-time Personal Support Specialists to join our Family Works initiative. This program has established Family Centers within correctional facilities to enhance the interaction between incarcerated parents and their children. Our centers are designed to offer families essential support and guidance in a secure setting, allowing children to engage in play, learning, and meaningful time with their parents. The primary goal is to strengthen family connections and improve the quality of visits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the Family Center for daily operations, ensuring a welcoming environment for visiting families.
- Supervise the closing procedures and assist with the cleanup of the Family Center after visiting hours.
- Document attendance and maintain accurate sign-in sheets.
- Greet all visitors and provide assistance as needed.
- Ensure the Family Center remains a safe, clean, and engaging space for children and their families.
- Compile and submit monthly reports on Family Center activities and data.
- Observe and report any behavioral or developmental changes in children to the Program Coordinator.
- Recognize the significance of nurturing family relationships for those affected by incarceration.
- Assist in managing inventory and supplies for the Family Centers.
- Encourage interactive play and participation among family members.
- Collaborate effectively with team members in person.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in family services or a related field.
