Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the care team to ensure consistency and quality of care, promoting productive employee relations and adhering to the hospital's customer service standards.
- Under the supervision of a registered nurse, coordinate patient care activities, including patient/family education, for an assigned group of patients, and assume the role of care coordinator for uncomplicated patients.
- Provide direct patient care as determined by patient, family, and unit needs, including determining patient and family needs, identifying goals, developing and implementing plans, and practicing culturally sensitive and competent patient and family-centered care.
- Collaborate with physicians, care management specialists, and other healthcare providers in carrying out the nursing process, including contacting and interacting with care management specialists and seeking input from other caregivers in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Temporary authorization to practice as a graduate nurse under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, as required by law, regulation, or policy.
- Licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Michigan within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and deal with stresses associated with a patient care environment.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies used in the work environment.
- Exhibits appropriate clinical judgment and analytical skills to provide comprehensive care and the subsequent formulation and documentation of care plans.
- Demonstrates appropriate reading, writing, and comprehension skills to understand, effectively communicate, and contribute to procedures, processes, orders, methods, and standards.
- A high level of interpersonal and verbal skill and teamwork commitment to effectively function as a team member in support of all services delivered on the patient unit and effectively communicate with patients, their families, and other hospital personnel to address customer needs.
