Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Admitting Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients, registering outpatients, and ensuring accurate patient information is collected. You will also be responsible for preparing materials related to these processes and collecting all required deposits, copayments, co-insurances, or deductibles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Timely and accurate registration of all patients, including functions related to Pre-Registration, Prior Authorization, or Insurance Verification
  • Obtaining accurate and complete information from the hospital insurance verification system, insurance company representative, or carrier website regarding benefits, approvals, and other relevant information required for a complete admission
  • Communicating with patients and physicians regarding specific insurance carrier benefits and out-of-pocket expenses, as well as facilitating resolution of coverage problems prior to admission or rendering of services
  • Identifying and resolving problems with insurance companies prior to and/or following admission
  • Obtaining authorization for all elective or scheduled patients and documenting accurate and timely information in the system
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED; Associate's degree in healthcare or business field preferred
  • One or more years of experience working in an acute care setting, preferably in Admitting/Registration, Pre-admission Process, Insurance Verification, or clerical experience in a healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of overall aspects of the admissions process, including patient admissions, pre-admissions, insurance verification, and customer service
  • Ability to work tactfully and professionally with patients, family members, and all other hospital staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with preference for speaking English, Spanish, or other languages
