Job Description

As a Geriatric Nursing Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the direction of nursing services for our units, in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Delegating duties to professional nurses and non-professional nursing personnel, monitoring their work performance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Observing patients for symptoms and reactions, including general physical and mental condition, for signs indicative of adverse change.
  • Notifying attending physicians of emergencies and death of patients in the unit, implementing changes in orders as instructed or ordered by physicians.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A high school graduate degree.
  • A valid license from the North Carolina Board of Nursing, with proof of license renewal every two years.
  • Willingness to work as charge nurses, and as needed during emergencies, to assure adequate coverage.
  • Ability to provide quality nursing care to patients, follow doctors' orders, and have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing.
  • CPR certification yearly.
