Job Summary
The Environmental Services Technician - Custodian is responsible for performing general custodial duties related to the maintenance and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities. This includes sweeping, mopping, waxing, and polishing floors, as well as dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures.
Key Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors
- Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment
- Clean desks, tables, and counter tops
- Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels, windows, sills, blinds, and door glass
- Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles in assigned areas
- Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures, including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, walls, and drinking fountains
- Sweep walkways and entrances to buildings and classrooms
- Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities
- Perform general maintenance duties, including simple plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, and yard maintenance
Working Conditions
The job is performed under some temperature extremes and requires moderate physical effort, including long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- At least three years of custodial experience is preferred
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently but also be a team player
- Good communication and comprehension skills
- Valid NC driver's license
