Job Title: Environmental Specialist II

Join the State of Florida's Department of Environmental Protection as an Environmental Specialist II, where you will play a crucial role in protecting the state's natural resources and promoting a healthy environment.

About the Role:

The Environmental Specialist II will assist with field work in conducting environmental investigations and serve as a contract and project manager for state-funded cleanup sites. This is an intermediate technical position requiring knowledge in aspects of environmental site assessment and project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct scientific assessments utilizing forensic assessment methodologies to collect data to determine source areas, extent of impact, and responsible parties.
  • Develop work plans, historical data searches, and obtain access to properties to assist with the installations of monitor wells, soil, and groundwater sample collection, and aquifer characterization studies.
  • Summarize the results of field investigations, including interpretations of hydrogeological data and analytical data.
  • Manage state-funded cleanup sites, including technical and administrative aspects of environmental site assessment projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, environmental science, or one of the natural sciences.
  • One year of verifiable related experience or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience for a total of five years.
