Patient Advocate

In this critical position, you will serve as a dedicated advocate for oncology patients, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and support. As a Patient Navigator, you will be the primary point of contact for patients and their caregivers, providing guidance and assistance throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient health insurance medical benefits and document specifics, including coverage, cost share, and treatment access options.
- Partner closely with case managers to confirm appointment dates and communicate patient needs.
- Act as a liaison for patients and caregivers to ensure accurate scheduling and preparation.
- Enter and maintain patient data in CRM.
- Collaborate with fellow team members to engage with patients, initiating proactive communication to guarantee exceptional customer service and facilitate a smooth patient treatment experience.
- Document and communicate all patient travel needs, including scheduling, rescheduling, and arrival/departure details.
- Administer and handle applications for Travel and Lodging and Patient Assistance Programs.
- Manage the reimbursement process for receipts.
- Provide coverage during after-hours to address urgent patient needs.
- Maintain interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with team lead and case managers while time managing case-specific activities.
- Previous work experience in Oncology background.
- High School diploma.
- Ability to work with high attention to detail.
- In-depth understanding and experience with Medical Benefits.
- 2 to 5 years of patient coordinating/scheduling experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience interacting with healthcare providers regarding Patient Health Information.
- Prominent level of empathy and sensitivity when speaking with oncology patients.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and great team player.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and grammar.
- Hospital and specialty oncology medication experience highly desired.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Salesforce system experience preferred.
- Knowledge of care coordination for cancer patients.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, hospice-related community resources preferred.
