Adjunct Associate Professor of Certified Nursing Assistant

San Joaquin Delta College is seeking an Adjunct Associate Professor to teach Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) courses. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching nursing students and a strong commitment to student success.
Responsibilities:- Teach CNA courses to students with varying skill levels and learning styles.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the educational requirements of the CNA program.
- Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to students.
- Assist students in achieving course objectives and connecting them to campus support services.
- Participate in the evaluation of course offerings and contribute to the development of culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Coordinate with other faculty to select textbooks and instructional materials that align with the college's mission.
- Keep current with new developments in nursing education and maintain fields of competency.
- Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, progress, and grades.
- Report any conditions that may jeopardize student health or safety.
- Assist in the marketing and promotion of the program by participating in college-sponsored events and visiting local businesses and schools.
- Participate in departmental, divisional, and campus-wide committees as part of the shared-governance process.
- Plan and complete approved professional development activities each semester/year.
- Participate in the departmental process of curriculum review, modification, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with Success Teams to monitor, advise, and ensure student equity and success through completion and post-graduation outcomes.
- Provide guidance and direction to readers and/or Instructional Support Assistants as appropriate.
- Meet the minimum educational qualifications set forth by the District and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
- Bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience or Associate's degree with six years of professional experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) current License.
- Two years of nursing experience (either RN or LVN).
- One year of verifiable experience as a licensed nurse (RN or LVN) providing care to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care home, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care settings.
- Completion of course(s) in teaching adults OR one year of verifiable experience in teaching adults OR one year of verifiable experience supervising nurse aides.
- Meet the CA Board of Registered Nursing requirements.
- Experience in teaching postsecondary courses in Health Sciences, Nursing Assistant Program, or RN program.
- Knowledge of basic ADL Skills, personal care skills pertaining to resident care in a long-term care facility.
- Ability to perform and instruct skills according to the CA Department of Public Health.
- Ability to supervise and assist at least 15 students in a long-term care facility.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different students' abilities, learning styles, culture, and ethnic groups.
- Demonstrated experience teaching in a variety of settings, including online, dual enrollment, and large lecture.
- Ability to use innovative and creative teaching techniques (lecture and labs) and equipment, including the use of multimedia hardware, current applications, and online instructional strategies.
