Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

As a key member of the City of Hobbs Utilities department, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater for the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor equipment at the wastewater treatment plant and pump stations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities to maintain optimal treatment processes.
  • Collect and analyze samples to detect chemical and bacterial content, and make adjustments to facility processes as needed.
  • Record and maintain reports on plant operations, and complete work orders for equipment maintenance and repair.
Essential Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of processing equipment, facilities, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance, construction, and repair activities associated with mechanical systems.
  • Basic computer skills for entering sample results and monitoring treatment processes.
  • Ability to learn basic laboratory techniques and procedures for analyzing wastewater samples.
