Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Troubleshooting: Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and resolve network issues.
  • Maintenance Requests: Create and deploy Maintenance Requests for after-hours network augments.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate directly with the Network Control Center (NCC) and Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to ensure overall network health.
  • Ticket Management: Track trouble resolutions, provide ticket updates, and communicate relevant information to customers.
  • Network Analysis: Gather information and perform network data analysis to improve operations.
  • Technical Consultation: Provide technical consultation, coaching, and mentoring to technicians and staff.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work directly with vendors for special network deployments.
  • Network Monitoring: Monitor the network continuously for issues, alerting the NCC as needed.
  • Scripting: Run scripts across the network to identify inconsistencies or necessary updates.
  • Telemetry Coordination: Coordinate with telemetry when console access to devices is unavailable or compromised.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a service provider role.
  • SONET/DWDM Knowledge: Proficiency with SONET/DWDM Network Configurations.
  • Ciena and Infinera Experience: Experience with Ciena 6500, Infinera, and Alcatel PSS-32/16.
  • Service Creation: Ability to create and modify DWDM/SONET services (from DS3 to 100GIG).
  • IP Network Knowledge: Working knowledge of IP Network concepts.
  • Vendor Deployment: Experience with vendor deployment of new gear.
  • Technical Project Management: Technical Project Management experience is preferred.
  • Optical Vendor Certifications: Optical vendor certifications (Ciena, Infinera, Nokia) are highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Flexible schedule to support after-hours maintenance requests.
