Position Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to work collaboratively with a diverse team of scientists to create and implement image analysis solutions for ongoing research projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting weekly meetings with lab members to provide updates.
  • Developing algorithms and methodologies for biomedical image analysis on a daily basis.
  • Updating existing algorithms and methodologies for improved analysis.
  • Demonstrating data preprocessing, feature engineering, and visualization techniques regularly.

Additionally, the role involves:

  • Providing training and technical support for programs, algorithms, archives, and pipelines developed during the research.
  • Instructing staff in computational data analysis techniques.
  • Training students and new investigators in laboratory techniques and equipment usage.
  • Offering programming and troubleshooting support to federal entities in research data dissemination.
  • Creating and optimizing programs and scripts for data analysis, while developing computational resources for managing large datasets.

The successful candidate will serve as a bioinformatics expert, coordinating with biologists to conduct experimental queries and perform complex studies.

Key responsibilities also include:

  • Building bioinformatics infrastructure for effective scientific analysis and data interpretation.
  • Providing programming and analytical support for various bioinformatics and research projects.
  • Installing, troubleshooting, and operating scientific software on different platforms.
  • Performing computations and analyses on research data.
  • Generating reports based on scientific data analysis.
  • Writing custom programs and algorithms to support data analysis and discovery.
  • Collaborating with scientists to design, analyze, manage, and interpret diverse data types.
  • Documenting all analyses performed and presenting results at lab meetings.

Moreover, the candidate will:

  • Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook and prepare progress reports on ongoing projects.
  • Provide statistical analysis support on research data.
  • Devise innovative statistical methods for data analysis.
  • Utilize existing bioinformatics techniques to identify trends and patterns.
  • Assist in evaluating and interpreting results for scientific validity.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in implementing and optimizing algorithms for biomedical image analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with biomedical image modalities and formats.
