About the Unit
The Critical Care Step Down unit features 39 beds and is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient and family-centered care. Our patient population includes individuals with a variety of medical conditions, such as pulmonary, cardiac, and neurological disorders, as well as post-operative care for surgical patients requiring advanced nursing support.
This unit also specializes in the care of ventilated tracheostomy patients. All staff members participate in comprehensive hospital and nursing orientation, along with unit-specific training. Competencies are assessed and completed during the orientation phase. Our team comprises Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in fostering a cohesive nursing environment.

Scope of Work
The Nursing Assistant will provide care to patients in accordance with established care plans, unit routines, and hospital policies under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include:
- Safe transportation of patients using wheelchairs or stretchers, along with appropriate documentation of services.
- Serving as an Observer for patients requiring constant monitoring, either in person or through remote video systems, to ensure their safety.
- Performing general receptionist and clerical duties to support the efficient operation of the nursing unit.
- Documenting care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a hospital or nursing home setting is preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
- Current CNA certification is preferred.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to document information accurately.
- Capability to interact efficiently with a diverse range of individuals.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills are preferred.
- Physical ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
Work Schedule
This position is part-time, with night shifts available. Weekly scheduled hours are 24, with shifts typically running from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Weekend work is required every third weekend.
