Job Description

This position provides comprehensive athletic training health care services for Georgian Court University's NCAA II Division athletic teams. Responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, assessment, management, and treatment, as well as short-term and long-term rehabilitation of injuries. The successful candidate will also educate and counsel student-athletes, and work in cooperation with the Team Physician(s) to ensure optimal health care administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide athletic training health care services for team practices and home contests.
  • Make medical referrals and determine medical clearance of student-athletes in consultation with the supervising team physician.
  • Document and communicate medical restrictions for participation with coaches.
  • Provide emergency care under the policies and procedures of the Office of Athletic Training and the Plan of Care with the supervising team physician(s).
  • Assist with the formation and maintenance of student-athlete medical records.
  • Maintain proper medical record keeping and documentation of all injuries and illnesses.
  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine with administrative responsibilities, including insurance claims management, policy review, and website management.
  • Share in the responsibilities of athletic training facility and fitness center maintenance and upkeep.
  • Maintain proper certifications/licensure as required by the State of New Jersey.
  • Abide by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Code of Ethics.
  • Integrate the core values of respect, compassion, integrity, justice, and service in all aspects of interaction.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Work with coaches and student-athletes to develop appropriate training regimens.
  • Travel with teams and provide athletic training health care services.
  • Provide athletic training health care services for GCU camps and clinics (during contract period).
  • Assist with facilitation of pre-participation physical exams.
  • Assist in the implementation of institutional and NCAA student-athlete drug testing and education.
  • Coordinate medical services for students majoring in Dance.
  • Serve as a Clinical Preceptor for Seton Hall University's Entry-Level Graduate Athletic Training Program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an Athletic Trainer by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Current certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Experience in an athletic training facility environment (collegiate preferred).
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with neurocognitive and vestibular testing and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain licensures/certifications in good standing through the completion of continuing education.
