Job Overview

Position Summary: The primary role of the Physical Therapist is to address and rehabilitate disabilities, injuries, and illnesses through tailored exercise regimens and the application of various physical modalities, including sound, water, heat, cold, light, and electricity, as prescribed by a physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the activities of Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides.
  • Organizes patient case review meetings for Physical Therapy clients.
  • Collaborates effectively with Physicians, Administrators, Office Managers, and all clinical and administrative personnel.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of patients during treatment sessions, adhering to all safety protocols and equipment usage guidelines to facilitate healing and prevent injury.
  • Implements treatment plans as directed by physicians while maintaining compliance with facility policies regarding equipment care, supply management, and departmental cleanliness.
  • Guides the execution of care plans as carried out by physical therapy assistants.
  • Conducts initial assessments, supervisory visits, and discharge evaluations as necessary.
  • Completes all required documentation within 24 hours of patient assessments, including therapeutic and billing records.
  • Actively engages in the Clinical Group's activities and utilization review processes.

  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Meets annual educational requirements.
  • Punctual and reliable in attendance, completing tasks within set timeframes.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining positive relationships with healthcare providers and staff.
  • Represents the organization positively within the community.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information at all times.
  • Participates in relevant in-service training sessions.
  • Contributes to performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the organization's mission, ethics, and objectives effectively.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Completion of training that meets the minimum standards for physical therapy education.
  • Graduation from an AMA-APTA accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice in the state of New Jersey.

Physical and Safety Considerations:

This role requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds. There may be risks associated with handling heavy equipment, and the position is subject to both mental and physical stress. Direct patient care may involve exposure to communicable diseases.
