Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our team at 84 Lumber. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for accurately and promptly pulling outgoing orders, staging orders, and maintaining a safe and organized lumber yard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and unloading freight, including lumber and building supplies
  • Processing and restocking returns
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized lumber yard and caring for equipment
  • Shrink control and forklift operation
  • Communicating delays or discrepancies to management
Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information to others one-on-one
  • Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts and lift up to 80 pounds
  • Maintains lumber yard, including keeping material well organized and safe
  • Responds to inquiries from other associates
Work Environment

This position requires working in a highly precarious place near moving mechanical parts. This position requires working outdoors and being exposed to wet, humid, hot, and/or cold weather conditions. This position is exposed to vibrations, potential risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, and chemicals.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, walking, hearing, use of hands and arms, grasping, handling, feeling, climbing, balancing, crawling, stooping, kneeling, and lifts up to 80 pounds. Rarely sits. Must be able to use a hammer.
