About the Role

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Patient Advocate to join our team. As a Patient Advocate, you will play a critical role in connecting uninsured hospital patients with programs that will cover their medical expenses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county medical or disability assistance.
  • Complete applications and follow through until approved.
  • Document cases accurately and timely in applicable Company programs and hospital systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service skills at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing trainings to stay up-to-date on content learned in dealings with patients and cases.
  • Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork necessary to submit enrollment and renewal for prospective Medicaid patients.
  • Maintain structured and timely contact with applicants and responsible government agencies.
  • Assist applicants with gathering additional reports or records, meeting appointment dates and times, and arranging transportation if warranted.
  • Request home visits as needed to acquire documentation.
  • Inform clients in a timely manner of all approvals and denials of coverage.
  • Participate in additional training requirements to stay abreast of changing rules and regulations associated with governmental programs.
Requirements
  • Some college coursework preferred.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.
  • Adaptability when dealing with constantly changing processes, computer systems, and government programs.
  • Professional experience working with state and federal programs.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients' rooms.
  • Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment.
