Job Title: Accounting Clerk

Role Summary: The Accounting Clerk will play a vital role in enhancing our financial and inventory management processes. This position encompasses significant data entry duties alongside managing various accounting and inventory responsibilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust grasp of retail accounting principles, hands-on experience with inventory control, and exceptional data entry capabilities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Data Management:
    • Execute extensive data entry functions, which include recording and updating financial transactions, inventory logs, and sales figures within accounting and inventory systems.
    • Guarantee the precision and completeness of entered data while upholding data integrity.
  • Transaction Oversight:
    • Document and validate daily retail sales transactions, encompassing cash, credit, and check payments.
    • Reconcile daily cash and credit receipts with sales reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Accounts Management:
    • Process and verify invoices related to retail acquisitions and inventory, ensuring adherence to company policies.
    • Prepare and execute payments for vendors and suppliers, managing payment timelines.
    • Track and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable to facilitate timely collections.
  • Inventory Oversight:
    • Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels, including recording stock quantities and identifying discrepancies.
    • Reconcile inventory records with physical counts and investigate any variances.
    • Support inventory audits and ensure proper documentation for inventory transactions.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and summaries related to retail operations and inventory, including sales and expense documentation.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes with accurate financial and inventory data.
  • Record Maintenance:
    • Maintain precise and organized financial and inventory records and files.
    • Ensure all documentation is systematically filed and readily accessible.
  • Client Interaction:
    • Address and resolve accounting and inventory-related inquiries from customers and vendors professionally.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Assist in ensuring adherence to company policies, retail accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Support internal and external audits as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated experience as an Accounting Clerk or in a similar capacity within a retail environment with inventory management duties.
    • Proven track record of heavy data entry tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
    • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
