Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician Associate to join our team at Geisinger Community Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the preparation, care, and sterilization of medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and sterilize medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies, and equipment
  • Collect and sort used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for cleaning and sterilization
  • Operate and maintain decontamination equipment, including autoclaves and sterilizers
  • Examine supplies meticulously to ensure proper cleaning and sanitization
  • Test and report any issues or problems with sterilization equipment
  • Prepare and deliver all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures
  • Maintain records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies
  • Control inventory, reorder supplies, and check expiration dates
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Certification(s) and License(s): Certified Sterile Processing Technician within 18 months - Healthcare Sterilization Association (HSA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
  • Skills: Infection Control, Mathematics, Multitasking, Teamwork
