Licensed Vocational Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care under the guidance of a physician and Nurse Manager. As a key member of the ambulatory practice team, the LPN collaborates with physicians and other staff to ensure a seamless and customer-centric workflow.
Key Responsibilities- Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients and families, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and treatment plans, working closely with the healthcare team.
- Observe, report, and record pertinent patient information into the electronic health record system, adhering to Dermatology Service protocols.
- Support and reinforce patient teaching plans, educating patients on proper medication use and wound care.
- Administer medications and perform nursing procedures within defined parameters, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Photograph patients with various skin conditions using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities, supporting peers in maintaining established standards of care.
- Triage patient urgent clinical calls and schedule appointments as needed, ensuring timely and effective care.
- Inform patients of pathology, lab results, and care plans, promoting transparency and patient engagement.
- Monitor biopsies via In-Basket messages, ensuring timely administration of therapies.
- Provide clinical nursing coverage across Medical Dermatology specialty services, ensuring seamless care delivery.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications as needed, ensuring patient access to necessary treatments.
- Participate in developing and implementing innovative nursing practices, driving quality improvement and excellence.
- Ensure appropriate use of equipment and supplies, maintaining inventories and promoting a safe work environment.
- Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding perceived unit needs, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Participate in unit and service committees to improve practice, driving positive change and innovation.
- Maintain a safe physical environment, complying with fire and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot routine and non-routine problems effectively, ensuring timely resolution and patient satisfaction.
- Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- BLS certification.
- Education: Graduate of an approved LPN program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of LPN experience.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, specifically PointClick Care.
