ROLE: Archaeology Technician I
COMPENSATION: $20.20 per hour, based on experience

Job Responsibilities: This role involves engaging in cultural resource management activities, emphasizing traditional sites, archaeological studies, collections management, cultural botany, and museum operations. Responsibilities will range from administrative tasks to providing support to senior personnel and undertaking independent projects. This position is tailored for contributions at the Colville Tribal Museum and/or the Fort Okanogan Interpretive Center. Employment is contingent upon funding availability, with no assurance of ongoing work should funding be withdrawn. Weekend shifts may be required.
Required Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational Background:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with relevant experience to fulfill the role's responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds in Anthropology, Native American Studies, or Museology/Collection Management.Skills and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of the history, culture, legends, and traditions of the 12 constituent tribes is essential. Proficiency in using office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, scanners, and digital recording devices is necessary. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Access, and Excel, is required. Candidates should demonstrate patience and understanding when interacting with a diverse community. Knowledge of Native American Studies, Botany/Plant Ecology, and museum practices is advantageous. Ability to perform all job functions in a fast-paced environment that may present distractions is crucial. Candidates must be willing to learn and apply Tribal regulations and policies. Strong organizational skills to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines are necessary. Proficiency in using a personal computer for correspondence, informational materials, and basic research is required. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information is essential. Openness to learning collection management techniques is expected. Willingness to engage in repetitive tasks, such as document photocopying, is important. A reliable and punctual work history is a must. Ability to work independently following initial training, along with multitasking capabilities while adhering to deadlines, is required. Good judgment and common sense are necessary. Collaboration with colleagues is essential.
