Job Overview: Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is on the lookout for a talented Applied Scientist to contribute to the AWS Neuron Compiler team. This team is at the forefront of creating an advanced deep learning compiler stack that enhances application models across various sectors, including Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision, utilizing top frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX.

Role Responsibilities: As an Applied Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of analyzers for machine learning compiler stages and intermediate representations (IRs). Your expertise will help shape the design and semantics of domain-specific languages (DSLs) that are essential for our customers in building neural architectures. You will also be responsible for architecting and developing critical tooling, publishing innovative research, and mentoring a team of skilled scientists and engineers.

Technical Skills: The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in programming languages, compilers, program analyzers, and program synthesis engines. While a background in machine learning and AI accelerators is advantageous, it is not mandatory. A robust publication record in areas such as compilers, IR semantics, static analysis, or verification is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated strong publication history
  • Experience in hands-on compiler or tool development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Publications in programming languages, compilers, static analysis, or verification
  • Experience mentoring junior researchers
  • Engagement with a broader community of compiler users and developers
