Aerospace & Defense Job Opportunity:

We have an immediate opening for a High-Tech Paint Process Engineer at our Troy, Ohio location. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing new thermal spray, coatings, and paint processes for the restoration of aerospace components.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily production support to troubleshoot issues with thermal spray systems, protective coatings, and paint.
  • Select, prepare, and mix solutions or coatings according to formulas and specifications, and create spray recipes and sequences for spraying.
  • Set up and operate various configurations of manual, semi-automatic, and robotic spray systems.
  • Generate, revise, document, test, and implement control programs for robotic, automated, and semi-automated spray systems.
  • Train technicians on new process implementation for thermal spray systems, coatings, and paint.
  • Provide direction on proper routine and preventative maintenance for spray/coating equipment.
  • Perform standardized testing on spray samples to ensure coating quality.
  • Document new thermal spray, protective coatings, and paint procedures in the form of technical data sheets and work instructions.
  • Analyze, develop, and recommend methods to meet production requirements, improve economy and quality, and reduce turn-around-times for products and/or processes with supporting cost analysis.
  • Establish, analyze, and act upon measures of performance related to processes.
  • Investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies relating to equipment and processes to reduce variation and improve reliability.
  • Determine the actions necessary to develop and implement new spray processes and repairs from engineering data.
  • Contribute to the planning and conduct of repair trials to generate data for new repairs or to support existing repairs.
  • Analyze and document the results of repair trials.
  • Propose, research, and perform cost-benefit analysis for new equipment purchases.
  • Coordinate and interact with outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors for process support, improvement, or repair development.
  • Provide support, technical expertise, and experience to the Engineering team necessary to develop new repairs on aerospace components.
  • Remain current with state-of-the-art technologies for thermal spray, protective coatings, and paint processes.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carry out special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment specializing in paint processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to program Fanuc robots.
  • All candidates must be U.S. citizens due to the nature of the work.

Estimated Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
