Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Health Technician to lead our Telehealth Clinical team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision, leadership, and technical guidance to our telehealth staff. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the effective management of our telehealth programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Leadership: Provide direct supervision to a team of telehealth staff, including assigning, amending, or rejecting work, and ensuring production and accuracy requirements are met.
  • Performance Management: Develop performance plans, recommend standards and ratings, and evaluate performance, making promotions, reassignments, and recognizing outstanding performance.
  • Work Scheduling: Create and modify work schedules to meet anticipated and unanticipated changes in the workload.
  • Attendance and Leave Management: Oversee attendance and review and approve leave requests of direct reports, ensuring adequate staff is available to perform all needed telehealth duties.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide guidance and technical direction relating to the telehealth program and relevant administrative matters to direct reports.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop new programs and processes to ensure telehealth programs are meeting the strategic plans of the healthcare system.
  • Quality Improvement: Independently review quality and performance data for telehealth programs effectiveness and satisfaction, and develop process improvements as required.
  • Technology Management: Coordinate with vendors, Biomed, and IT to upgrade and replace telehealth technologies to minimize impact on patient care.
  • Training and Development: Provide standardized developed competency-based training for telehealth technology, facilitating interactive simulations for clinical staff participating in Telehealth programs.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Gather, compile, and analyze data and statistics to develop integrated reports designed to assess impact, demand, and utilization of telehealth services for submission to facility and Veteran Integrated Service Network (VISN) leadership.
Requirements
  • Education: Four academic years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience: One year of experience in a health care field that demonstrates the ability to perform the work or provides an understanding of the work, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties, ability to plan, organize, and coordinate clinical workflow, ability to work independently, set priorities, delegate tasks, meet multiple deadlines, analyze organizational problems, and develop and implement effective solutions to optimize quality, efficiency, performance, and productivity within the service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Telehealth Experience: 2 years of telehealth experience.
  • Training and Mentoring: Experience training and mentoring peers or subordinates.
  • Certification: Certification as Preceptor or Master Preceptor for one or more telehealth programs (CVT, SFT, HT).
  • Equipment and Technology: 2 years of experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting telehealth equipment and technology.
