Job Objective
The Heavy Equipment Transport Specialist is responsible for the transportation, delivery, and retrieval of various construction and heavy machinery, ensuring support for branch operations in a professional, safe, and timely manner. This role involves operating both commercial and non-commercial vehicles while adhering to high standards of quality within the branch and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport, deliver, and retrieve a variety of construction and heavy equipment.
- Operate vehicles in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
- Exhibit professionalism and a strong customer service orientation.
- Conduct vehicle inspections prior to and following pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation throughout the workday, ensuring availability for management and state traffic safety officers.
- Utilize driving skills to navigate various speeds and challenging locations, including heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions.
- Secure construction equipment according to established DOT procedures.
- Maintain open communication with the Branch Manager and/or central dispatch regarding delivery schedules.
- Adhere to safety regulations at customer job sites and related facilities.
- Assist customers by providing training on the safe operation of vehicles, tools, or machinery when requested.
- Report any damage to company property discovered during equipment pickups.
- Notify the Branch Manager or Central Dispatch of any accidents involving vehicles or equipment.
- Promptly communicate any delays due to breakdowns, weather, or traffic issues affecting timely pickups or deliveries.
- Demonstrate flexibility in daily routines to accommodate management responses to customer demands.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of paperwork and logs on a daily basis.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of tractor trailer driving experience within the last three years.
- Commercial Driver's License, Class A, with tanker endorsement.
- Current medical certification.
- Hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of employment, with assistance provided.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Proficient in operating large, heavy machinery.
- Capable of securing loads safely.
- Strong customer service skills.
$26 - $30 per hour, depending on experience.
