Position Overview:
The Child Advocacy Interview Specialist is responsible for conducting sensitive interviews with children who are potential victims or witnesses of abuse. This role is crucial in ensuring that children receive the necessary support and services following their experiences.
Essential Qualifications:- A Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of child development and family dynamics, particularly in relation to abuse.
- Strong organizational, communication, and networking abilities.
- Prior experience in interviewing children is advantageous.
- A genuine passion for working with children.
- Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish are preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain strong organizational practices.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and proof of insurance for agency-related travel.
- Successful completion of background checks is mandatory.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.
- Demonstrated integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Alliance For Children Inc.
- Facilitate and conduct interviews with children who are alleged victims or witnesses of abuse, as requested by partner agencies.
- Document all aspects of the forensic interviews conducted.
- Provide appropriate referrals for services to support the child and their family.
- Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to collaborative discussions.
- Participate in local and regional peer review initiatives.
- Stay informed on best practices, research, and interviewing techniques related to child abuse.
- Deliver presentations to professionals and community organizations on forensic interviewing methodologies.
- Testify in court as an expert witness when required.
- Be available for on-call duties during weekends and holidays.
- Travel as necessary for off-site interviews.
- Maintain accurate statistics and reports related to job functions.
- Support colleagues and assist with additional tasks as directed by supervisors.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and twist regularly. Candidates should be able to lift up to 25 lbs and operate standard office equipment, including telephones and computers. Moderate travel by personal vehicle is expected.
