Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the backbone of telecommunications and network systems across the DoD locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Transport Systems: Develop and implement transport systems that support the operational requirements of DoD facilities, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Evaluate Network Requirements: Assess network requirements and develop transport solutions to meet operational needs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with network architects, system engineers, and operations personnel to assess requirements and implement effective transport solutions.
  • Conduct Network Assessments: Perform network assessments, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve transport-related issues promptly.
  • Implement Network Upgrades: Develop and implement network upgrades, expansions, and enhancements to improve transport efficiency and accommodate evolving mission requirements.
  • Develop Documentation: Create and maintain documentation to support transport infrastructure management and operations, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in Change Management: Participate in change management processes, including planning, testing, and implementing network changes and upgrades.
  • Support Disaster Recovery: Design resilient transport solutions and participate in exercises and drills to support disaster recovery and contingency planning efforts.
  • Provide On-Call Support: Provide on-call support and respond to network incidents or outages outside regular business hours as needed.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance testing and performance monitoring of transport systems to meet specified standards and requirements.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure all transport engineering activities and systems comply with DoD regulations, standards, and policies, maintaining a strong focus on network security and integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance: Must have an active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Network Engineering Experience: Must have experience in network engineering, specifically in transport infrastructure design, implementation, and optimization.
  • Transport Network Design Experience: Must have experience in transport network design, implementation, and maintenance, with a strong telecommunications system and technology background.
  • DODIN Operations Experience: Experience with DODIN operations and DoD standards is highly valued.
  • Transport Networking Technologies: Must have a strong understanding of transport networking technologies and Ethernet.
  • Network Routing and Switching Protocols: Must have experience with network routing and switching protocols.
  • Network Design Tools: Must be proficient in network design tools and software like Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3, or similar platforms.
  • Security Principles: Must have knowledge of security principles and practices related to network transport infrastructure.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • Security +: Must have a Security + certification.
  • DoD 8570 Compliance: Must have DoD 8570 Compliance.
  • CCNA & CCNP: CCNA & CCNP certifications are preferred.
