Job Summary

California Retina Consultants is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering top-notch eye care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Evaluation and Documentation: Accurately document patient information, including chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and ocular findings, in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  • Pre-Exam Testing: Perform visual acuity assessments, confrontational visual field testing, extraocular muscle assessments, pupillary evaluations, tonometry, pupillary dilation, and Optical Coherence Tomography, as requested by physicians.
  • Patient Education: Inform and educate patients on the purpose and details of their appointments, as well as the tests being performed.
  • Efficient Clinic Flow: Assist in the efficient movement of patients through the clinic, ensuring a smooth and timely experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possess a working knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy, pathologies, and ocular pharmacology, as well as proficiency in EHR programs NexTech IntelleChartPRO and practice management systems.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education and Training: Completion of a medical assisting program or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Possession of certifications such as COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant), COT (Certified Ophthalmic Technician), or OSC (Ophthalmic Scribe Certification).
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
